A MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT GUIDING APPROACH

My guiding approach can be described in a nutshell as a Mind-Body-Spirit guiding approach. It starts with the presentation of the historical and archaeological background of each ancient site/monument/place of interest and visit.

THE HISTORICAL AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL BACKGROUND

Based on finds and on the scientific work of renowned archaeologists, historians, mythologists, and ethnologists, I attempt to move deeper, into the people of that era themselves. Also, into their ethnological characteristics and origin, as well as their language and writing system. I am particularly focusing on their arts and crafts and their ways of expression through music, dance, rituals, customs, and manners.

Always based on historic sources, I attempt to find the connections between their social, political, and spiritual life at that time, researching the “why” and the “how” of that period, thus aiming at a deeper understanding of that era. That is actually the key for me for bringing it back to life.

THE ANCIENT MYTH

My guiding also includes referring to and researching the ancient Myths and their symbolism. I share the myths, legends, and thrills that are saved up to nowadays through ancient literature and our long Greek tradition. I attempt carefully to decipher those myths and penetrate into their symbolic meaning.

I search for the connections existing still inside the human archetype and research the continuity up to the present. I attempt to find ways to bind up the past with the present and urge my Guests to be “open” to receive the messages that each ancient Myth is sending out.

THE ANCIENT ART & RELIGION

I also find it essential to focus a lot on the Arts and Ritual practice of each era I am guiding on. The arts as a way of seeing the world and the rituals – almost always connected with the arts-, as a way of conceiving the divine. The human expression through art and ancient ritual practice has always been an infallible way of “speaking” about ideals, fears, joys, anxieties, therapies, life, and death. It speaks about life itself and how life is received through the eyes of whole generations.

LIVING IN CRETE TODAY

Guiding for me includes as well, to present Greece’s modern life. Greece’s and Crete’s present history. To share and explain how people live today in this country. Our social, political, spiritual reality. Our everyday life. Our traditions, music, and arts today. Our interests, ideas, and points to be proud of. The traditional and heroic aspects of Greece.

My guiding approach includes nevertheless, sharing information about the Greek and Cretan nature. The Cretan beautiful natural geological past and present. The unique natural monuments of the island. The so rich and rare fauna and flora.
