Blue from Head to Toe
Blue skies, blue seas, and blue flags! Crete has hundreds of remarkable beaches that are accessible for visitors to swim in the Aegean or Libyan Seas. The azure waters are not only clean, but they are transparent creating the illusion that you are walking on crystals.
On gorgeous summer days, a full day at the beach is just what someone needs to relax and unwind while appreciating the exoticness of the nature. Our picks are the beaches that are simply perfect for that! However, we also adore them because of their uniqueness but primarily because they are untouched by man making them raw and beautiful!
Balos Lagoon
Balos is a fabulous area on the northwestern side of Crete, in Chania. This astonishing spot resembles the Caribbean side of Crete. With whimsical waters, powdery white sand and an enormous island with a Venetian Castle on top, the lagoon of Balos stuns all guests as soon as they lay eyes on it. It very well may be reached via vehicle through a track street from Kissamos or by boat from Chania Town and Kissamos.
Elafonissi Beach
Situated on the southwestern side of Crete, Elafonissi is a fabulous sea shore with exotic crystal-clear waters. This spot is a paradise on earth, with smooth white and pink sand and with cedar trees right up at the coastline. Elafonissi means the island of the deer and is a mysterious spot that is definitely a must-see during your western Cretan vacation.
Falassarna Beach
Falassarna is an enormous sandy beach on the western side of Crete, just a short drive from Kissamos town. This quaint spot is perfect for families with kids because it is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas. In addition, the soft sand makes it ideal for children to carelessly play. Moreover, there is a windsurfing station for all the lovers of that sea sport! The archaeological site of Ancient Falassarna is right above the beach and should not be missed.
Preveli Beach
On the southern side of the prefecture of Rethymno there is an area of extraordinary natural beauty, Preveli. This sea shore is really where a waterway streams into the ocean, going through many palm trees and forming a lake near the ocean. Additionally, there are water sports in this lake, while the sandy and unorganized beach of Preveli is a superb spot to swim.
The above mentioned beaches give us good reason to state that the beach experience in Crete is comparable to Caribbean-like waters. Therefore, we urge you to have a look at our Yacht Experiences to have a taste of how your summer vacation could look like!
