DETAILED TOUR TIMELINE

• Local Olive Oil Factory Visit

  Your experience will start with a visit of a local traditional Olive Oil Factory in the region of Heraklion. You will find out all about the different stages of the Olive Oil production, visit the factory installations and try wonderful extra virgin Cretan olive oil.

• Vathipetro the oldest European Winery

  Your next stop will be the prehistoric industrial area of Vathipetro, located on the foot of Juktas sacred hill. There, the oldest European winery and olive oil press were excavated dating back to 17.oo bc. Visiting the oldest winery of Europe will be an exquisite introduction to the traditional wine making experience which follows in your schedule.

• Local Winery visit and Wine tasting

  A short demostration of the traditional way of wine making and a splendid wine tasting (different types of wine produced in the region) and Raki tasting (local liqueur based on grapes) will follow at a local, traditional winery.

• Lunch in an Agro Farm on the Mountains

  In a beautiful Agro Farm surrounded by wonderful and peaceful nature and among olive grooves and vineyards, you will enjoy a three course traditional meal cooked by the owner and his family, on products of their own production, together with excellent local wine.

• Seasonal Experience: Wine Making- Raki Making- Olive Picking

  In August and September, we invite you to participate in Grapes harvest and grape stomping by foot, exactly as people used to do in the past.

  In October and November, we invite you tom participate in the Raki distillation process.

  In December and January, we invite you tom participate in the harvest of the Olive trees.
